Following Jesus

I don’t remember the exact moment I decided to follow Jesus – I didn’t raise my hand in a service or walk an aisle, yet almost over night things changed for me.  I had a peace I had never known before and faith in a Savior I knew was real.

My sister had sent me a bible for my birthday in 1994. After much skepticism and denial, I decided to open it and in the front of the book read the words, “you are probably wondering what these bible people have to do with you.”  I thought, “yes, I am.”  So I asked God to show me if He was real.  He answered my question by moving me to live with my sister and brother in law for several months.

One day, my sister said, “you seem really different.” I was different! I was so hungry for God’s Word and had a great desire to know Him more. We all got on our knees and prayed and thanked God for His faithfulness and forgiveness.  So much changed about me that I had a hard time recognizing my former self.

God is real, friend.  Seek Him and you will find Him.  He’s not far from you, even now.  Let Him bring purpose to your pain and meaning to your most messy moments.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

If you are reading this and do not know Christ as your Savior, you can make the choice to follow Him, too.  His invitation is open to anyone.  He loves you, friend, and He knows all of your failures all ready.  Nothing you have done will surprise Him.  Take His outstretched hand and follow Him, your life will never be the same again.

If you take this awesome step of faith please respond.  I’d love to pray with you.

Defined by Him,
